Beginnings

“I think it’s a hard thing to overcome – the anxiety and the comparing and the general awkwardness of being a beginner.

I do not believe anyone is too old to start riding. At the last barn I was at I met a 55 year old woman who had just started – she’d always wanted to do it and finally she did it and I told her that was the coolest thing I had ever heard. She just did it because she wanted to!! That is seriously awesome to me. Just to have a good sense of sense and motivation to do what makes you happy.

If anyone makes you think you’re too old, like a trainer, find a new one. No matter your age, as a beginner you need support and a welcoming relationship.

Everyone starts sometime, everyone is a beginner – it’s okay and we all felt awkward for a good bit before it clicked.”
