Rite of Passage

“My pony has a bit of a patented move to remove a rider, it’s worked on all my family members. It’s a bit of a rite of passage as his rider because he tests everyone at least once.

He doesn’t try it very often, and after having him for almost 12 years I know the signs he’s thinking about it both on the ground and on his back.

He does a quick side-step, and if he feels you’re off balance, he darts forward and you fall safely off to the side. He then takes a victory lap of the ring and allows himself to be caught.

He schools very perkily afterwards!”
