Truly Lucky

“He was just a wonderful guy. He was the kind of horse you could put little kids on, new riders, anyone. He took care of them all, but he also wasn’t a dead head. We used to show in high school and then we switched to trails and hunter paces as we both got older, and I had so much more fun doing that then all the years of showing. We got to go swimming at the beach, camping, so many crazy trekking adventures. Truly lucky.

He was so quirky. He wanted to be inside to eat dinner and then he needed to be out, and you would know when that was by the banging on all the buckets.

He would take big gulps of water and hold it in his mouth. The moment I wasn’t paying attention he would dump it all over me. I know it was on purpose. Absolutely hated baths. Hated them. Loved all the holiday candy, candy corn, candy canes, Valentine’s Day heart candy.

All my time (and money) went to making him happy, buying him peppermints and candy corn, cutting up apples so he wouldn’t choke trying to eat them without teeth, getting him acupuncture and chiropractor appointments…he deserves every last minute of all the pampering I could do for him.

I met so many wonderful people through him and I’m trying to focus on the good memories as much as I can instead of hyper focusing on his last moments.”
